Installation FAQs

General Installation Tips:

Close any applications that are running, especially antivirus products. If the installation prompts you to restart your computer, please do so; the installation will continue on its own after restart. Don't take the CD at any point during the installation process. The entire install may take 10-15 minutes, so don't worry if it appears to be 'stuck' at some point.

If the software does not begin to install after 1 minute or so, please follow the steps listed below:

  1. Open "My Computer" from either your desktop icon or from the main menu path (Click "Start" located at the bottom left corner of your taskbar).
  2. Select the CD drive (it may say DVD/CD-RW Drive).
  3. Select Install/Set Up.

The installation could not find an expected directory structure. This should only happen to customers installing NeatReceipts Professional 2.5.1. Just re-run the setup, and it should complete successfully.

The Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine installation encountered a problem. Please follow these steps to resolve the most common causes for this problem:

  1. Is the "Server" service?

Go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools. If your Control Panel screen has a blue background, you may need to go to Performance and Maintenance first.

    Double click on 'Services'

Scroll down until you see an entry for 'Server.' The service should be Started and set to Automatic. Click here if the service is not started. Click here if you do not see 'Server' in the services list at all.

  2. Is ODBC properly configured?

Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools. If your Control Panel screen has a blue background, you may need to go to Performance and Maintenance first.

Double click on 'Data Sources (ODBC)' and then click on the Drivers tab.

Scroll down until you see an entry for SQL Server. If that entry does not exist, or if the text 'Not Marked' appears next to it, click here.
