This page contains step-by-step instructions for updating your software to NEAT Receipts 2.8.1, the latest free update for Windows Vista users. You should use this update if you fall into one of the following categories:
- You are installing Version 2.8.1 on a Vista machine that has never before had NEAT Receipts installed
- You are currently running the NEAT Receipts Vista Beta (2.7.6)
Please follow these steps to install NEAT Receipts 2.8.1:
- Back up your current database. (if you are migrating data from another version of NEAT Receipts)
- Launch your current version of NEAT Receipts
- Go to Tools > Database > Backup. In the Save dialog box that opens, browse to the appropriate location on your hard drive and save the backup file with the default .nrbak file extension. It is recommended that you save this file in your My Documents folder.
Vista Beta Users Only: Uninstall NEAT Receipts Version 2.7.6 (other users, skip to #3)
- Unplug your scanner before continuing
- From your Start Menu, go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program > NeatReceipts Professional v2.7.6.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to continue with the uninstall.
- Download the update file to your computer.
Click on the DOWNLOAD UPDATE NOW button below, choose Save (do not choose Open) and save it on your Desktop when presented with a Save As... dialog box. - Run the update.
Once the file has been downloaded to your desktop, double-click on it to open up a window. Click 'Install' and the update files will be extracted, and the update wizard will launch. - Restart your PC and restore your data.
If the update requests that you restart your PC, please allow it to do so. The update will continue after the PC restarts. When the download is complete, restore your data from the saved backup. To restore your data, Go to Tools > Database > Restore.
