The CEA Free Trade Bus Visits NEAT Receipts

July 23rd, 2008

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) stopped by Neat Receipts HQ in Philadelphia today as part of their national bus tour promoting Free Trade. (Hooraaayyy Free Trade!)

Why do we support Free Trade? Well, our scanners have parts made in Japan, Taiwan and China, and software made in the USA. So we depend on trade to make a successful product.

We are thrilled to be the featured company on Day 3 of the CEA’s national bus tour and we even gave them a NEAT Receipts to help manage their expenses on the road!

The Unboxing of NEAT Receipts for Mac

May 7th, 2008

We here at NEAT Receipts are very excited about the recent release of NEAT Receipts for Mac. We’ve received some really positive feedback from our customers, so the Marketing department has decided to unchain Andy the Mac developer from his desk for a few minutes, so he could share with you this beautiful out-of-box experience. But don’t worry - he’s back at his desk now, locked up tight, and working on the first software update. Thanks Andy!

Enjoy.

Putting the Neat Kids to Work!

April 25th, 2008

Yesterday was the annual “Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day”. We had six kids here at NeatReceipts, and had a great time playing with them– I mean, teaching them all about all the big important things we do here in the office.

While they were here, we also thought we’d put them to work and help us create some new NeatReceipts commercials. They did such a great job that we just couldn’t wait to share them with the world. And if they are just so persuasive that you have to buy one right now, just hop on over to the NeatReceipts store. Enjoy!

April 18th, 2008

Here at NeatReceipts HQ, we have received a number of requests to ship to Canada. (Note: NeatReceipts is available in Canada through Office Depot Canada and Future Shop stores, as well as TigerDirect.ca.)

Occasionally, we receive an email request that stands out in a crowd, and today is one of those days.

I’ve looked around and Neat receipts seems to be the best of the bunch.

I was waiting for the Mac release but there is no way to buy it in Canada.

We now have credit cards and money in Canada, and we’ll be happy to give you some, if you’ll mail us a wee scanner and some shiny new software.

Please start shipping to Canada.

We are big fans of this guy already and we’re going to do our best to try to take care of this.

Introducing NEAT Receipts for Mac

April 15th, 2008

We know how tough it has been for our Mac friends to see those receipts and documents piling up, and now, after patiently waiting, there is a solution.

Starting today we are taking pre-orders for the first ever NEAT Receipts product compatible with Macintosh OS X. We call it NEAT Receipts for Mac Advance Release.

Our Mac version was built from the ground up and developed in Cocoa (Apple programming environment) to provide an easy to use, functional interface that looks and feels like the applications Mac owners use everyday. But that’s only half the story - Mac users will be delighted to see a cool new piece of hardware. Our design team has completely redesigned the scanner to meet (and hopefully exceed) the expectations of the Mac community. We think it’s a beautiful integration of software and hardware - just what you Mac guys expected, right?

Head on over to neatreceipts.com/mac to check it out for yourself.

Low-Stress Tax Prep with NEAT Receipts

March 21st, 2008

Tax time. For most of us, it’s the least favorite time of the year. Hunting for receipts and documents…stressing over how to fill out tax forms and schedules. Happily, there is an easier, more efficient way to save and organize your receipts and documents for tax preparation: NEAT Receipts.

Scan your tax-related receipts into your computer and NEAT Receipts organizes them for you by their appropriate tax categories. In many cases, the system can tell you exactly on which line on your 1040 Schedules a given receipt belongs. This data can even be exported to TurboTax! NEAT Receipts software supports IRS forms for the 2007 tax year, including 1040, Schedules A, B, C, D, E and F, as well as forms 2106, 2441, 3903, 8829, 8839 and 8863. Best of all, NEAT Receipts itself can be considered tax deductible as a legitimate business expense!

We here at NEAT Receipts are so darned organized this time of year that we no longer dread tax time…we celebrate it! Visit our NEAT Tax Center for a whole bunch of tax-related goodness: helpful information and tax tips, videos, and best of all — a sweepstakes! Enter today for your chance to win $1000.

Find out how to make tax time headache- and hassle-free….with NEAT Receipts!

Hold on to your handlebars…it’s a NEAT Receipts mustache-growing contest!

March 11th, 2008

We here at NEAT Receipts are a pretty fun bunch, and are always looking to partake in some friendly competition. Over the last year we’ve done the ugly sweater contest, the afro growing contest, some after-hours XBOX, and now…it’s mustache-growing time.

We’ve been at it for a few weeks already, and have had a few patchy-chinned dropouts. But we are now midway through the contest, and are seeing some strong competitors emerge. Check back often and feel free to vote for your favorite face. Judging will be in early April, and blog comments will count as part of the final score!

Here are our clean-shaven competitors on the first day of the contest:

“A Boy named Sue”

“Gentle Ben”

“Stingray”

“Mr. John Hacksworth”

And one month later, we’re seeing some hairy chins, cheeks…and one big, bad, over-achiever.

NEAT Receipts Represents at The Polar Bear Plunge

February 26th, 2008

Never one to succumb to the winter blues, NEAT Receipts‘ own Giulia Umile recently participated in the 14th Annual Polar Bear Plunge, which took place on February 16th in Sea Isle City, at the beautiful Jersey Shore.

For her debut dip into the icy Atlantic, Giulia brought along her friend Lauren, a bunch of cheering friends, and a bright and fancy swim cap.

giulia.jpg

So, Giulia, what was it like?

“Before the official start, a group of “non-official” plungers ran into the water, which kind of triggered the rest of us. . .so there really wasn’t anytime to think. We just started running towards the water, and once we were deep enough dove in head first. The water was so cold it took your breath away - as soon as we came up we ran back to the shore and wrapped up in our towels. There were easily a thousand people watching… In a few minutes, our feet were numb and we couldn’t walk because it hurt too bad. So, we found a sunny spot, sat down, and tried to rub our feet until we got the sensation back. Eventually we found our friends, and they gathered around us while we took off our wet stuff and put on dry clothes-and that was it!”

So there you have it. Never a dull moment at NEAT Receipts…where employees flirt with hypothermia for fun!

Bloggers love NEAT Receipts

A Philadelphia Idol Story

January 23rd, 2008

We’ve always known that our customer service reps here at NEAT Receipts were a special bunch of people. But we were thrilled to find out recently that we have a bona fide American Idol in our midst!

leah-idol.jpg

NEAT Receipts employee Leah Guerrier attended the Philadelphia “Idol” auditions as one of 50,000 hopefuls vying for a “golden ticket” to Hollywood. However, before she got there, she wasn’t even planning to sing. “I was just going to support my friends,” said Leah. “At the last minute I decided to sign up as a joke.”

As it turned out, the joke was on her friends. Out of all of them, Leah was the only one to advance past the first round of auditions at the Wachovia Center.

“There are several rounds of auditions that you have to go through. Only about 125 people even get a chance to sing in front of Simon, Paula and Randy,” she explained.

And when it was finally Leah’s turn to rock it out for the judges, she admits that while she gave it all she got, it may have been a less than stellar performance.

“Randy’s exact words were, ‘We enjoyed your energy and charisma…too bad you can’t sing.’”

Thinking that was the end of her 15 minutes of fame, Leah headed for the door. But just as she was walking out, Simon called her back. He told her that Paula and Randy had produced an instructional DVD for singers, and if she was able to find a copy and practice with it, they would give her another chance later that day.

With a small army of producers, cameramen and production assistants in tow, Leah scoured the Philadelphia area for a copy of the DVD. She finally found one, hightailed it back to the Wachovia Center, and practiced all afternoon. At the end of the day, she faced the judges once again. This time, success!! Leah was going to Hollywood! She ran out of the room and into the waiting arms of Ryan Seacrest (a scene that was broadcast on the “Idol” commercials before the show started airing in January). Leah was one of only 17 people from the original 50,000 to make it from the Philadelphia auditions — the largest turnout in “Idol” history.

Three months later, Leah found herself once again facing the judges — this time in Hollywood, and accompanied by a band. Unlike most of the finalists, many of whom were professional singers, Leah had never even held a microphone before, much less sang with a backing band. To make matters worse, the Idol producers changed the audition song selections at the last minute, and the kick-butt rendition of “Moondance” she’d been working on all summer was off the list.

Regardless, Leah approached the audition with the same energy and attitude that got her there in the first place. However, the stress of the competition was starting to take its toll, and as the band started to play, she forgot the words!

“Then Randy made a funny face, and I started laughing,” says Leah. “After that, I pretty much knew it was over.”

Although disappointed to not make it further in the competition, Leah is no sore loser. She still plans to watch the show — if only to cheer on the new friends she made while in L.A.

“It was a very friendly competition,” notes Leah. “We all supported each other.”

So, is the real “Idol” experience anything like what they show on TV?

“At the end of the day, it’s a TV show,” Leah said. “Why else would they have featured that guy getting his chest waxed on TV instead of me?”

Seriously. We here in the office were kind of bummed that Leah’s experience was not part of the “Philly Auditions” show that aired last week. But as always, her positive attitude belies any disappointment she may have felt. If anything, she is excited about the new doors that this experience has opened, and has even started working on a single that she plans to release as a ringtone. How music 2.0!

So, the next time you call NEAT Receipts Customer Service, remember: you may be getting your tech support from an American Idol! Maybe if you’re super-nice, she’ll even sing for you. (”First you baaaack up your daaaaaaataaa…….”)

Congratulations, Leah!

NEAT Receipts Rocks Macworld

January 17th, 2008

NEAT Receipts sent a delegation to Macworld this year to introduce all the Macheads to the future of digital document management. We are giving them a sneak peek of our NEAT Receipts for Mac software, as well as our slick new hardware design. Word from the floor is, they love it! Just look at the crowds swarming around the booth to get a closer look. In fact, there has been so much interest they’ve actually had to print more business cards.

So if you are at Macworld this week, don’t miss your chance to check out all the excitement for yourself at booth #4142.

NEAT-Man Comes Home

January 14th, 2008

Hey! Just wanted to let you know I’m back to work at NEAT Receipts after my exciting trip to Las Vegas for the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show. What an adventure! And I learned so much…not just about the future of consumer electronics, but about myself.

I learned that road warriors are people, not just a demographic we talk about in meetings. And after having the opportunity to speak with them all week, I am so proud to work for a company that can help them in a real and meaningful way.

I learned that no matter how easy they go down, two drinks is definitely my limit.

I learned that working the booth at a trade show is really hard work! I thought it would be like one big party, but I was on my feet all day, talking to people, and exhausted the whole time. In fact, here’s a picture of me about to fall over!

img068-sm.jpg

I learned that everyone - even the people we look up to most - sometimes make mistakes. The guys at Gizmodo, one of my favorite blogs, screwed up big time. Not only did they pull a really mean prank by turning off big TV screens at several companies’ booths, but they also did a robot roundup at the show — and forgot to include me! How lame.

Lastly, I learned that the odds are best in blackjack, but the house always wins in the end.

I’m so glad to be home. Scanny out.

The NEAT-est Booth at CES!

January 9th, 2008

Hi there — it’s NEAT Man again. I realized that with all the excitement of the last few days, I forgot to show you how neat our booth is here at CES! We have a little meeting area inside the booth and there have been lots of VIPs and media coming by to talk to our management team. A lot of people just saw my picture in the daily CES magazine, and are coming by to say hello and learn more about me. NEAT!

boothfront.jpg
Here’s me at the booth. Like my cape?

boothside.jpg
From the side — we created sample office and home office spaces so people could see how easily I fit in to both!

boothside2.jpg
Here’s a closeup of the office/home office wall.

boothback2.jpg
This is my favorite part — a huge wall showing me zapping a pile of receipts and sending them into the computer. I look like a real superhero!

Speaking of VIPs, I met a few last night when I got into the private lounge at Pure, the nightclub at Caesar’s Palace. I’ll have to tell you about that some other time…

pure.jpg

I also had a chance to walk around the Las Vegas Convention Center and see some other booths. It was so exciting — I saw all the big companies there, and even got to meet one of my HEROES — Bumblebee the Transformer!!! He was so good in that movie, wasn’t he??

bumblebee.jpg

Well, I better get back to work now. The booth is really busy today — it seems like EVERYBODY wants to organize their paper and simplify their lives! I have to spread the word!

Bye!

NEAT-Man’s Big Night Out

January 8th, 2008

hangover.jpg

I’ve heard that what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas…but I really wanted to tell you all about the NEAT things I did last night!

After the first day of the show, Uncle Les took us all out to a great little Italian restaurant called Nora’s. When we got there, my friend Bruce ordered me my first martini. (Quite honestly I would have preferred a Cosmo, but I didn’t want everybody to think I was a wimp.)

I started feeling a little funny after dinner. I thought it was from all the wine I drank, but my friends said that I would feel much better if I got another drink. Everybody at NEAT Receipts seems to know a lot about these things, so I took their advice.

We went to the MGM Grand and Giulia showed me how to play blackjack. I’m very good at adding up numbers. Mary convinced me to try a drink called a “Manhattan”. Yummy - it comes with a cherry! I drank three more of them before we left.

Then we…um, well…I’m not really sure what we did after that. Jeff said that when we got back to the hotel, I called my new friend from the bar, and that was the last he saw of me…

Did it get brighter here in the Sands or what?! All the noise! And I’m going to punch that guy over at the Slingbox booth if he doesn’t turn down the music…

Man, I feel like a Fujitsu - I’ve had to recalibrate myself 3 times this morning already.

Well, I’m sure I’ll get to bed early tonight…

My First Day at CES

January 7th, 2008

Hi folks! Today is the first day of the Consumer Electronics Show, and boy, what a place! Everybody here is so friendly! Last night, a really pretty lady was sitting all by herself in the bar in my hotel — and asked me to have a drink with her! She gave me her number and told me to call her if I wanted to have some more fun while I’m here. How NEAT! I made a friend!

scannycasino.jpg

But really, it’s hard not to have fun in Las Vegas with all these games around. I started learning how to play video poker. It’s fun, but tonight I might try my hand at the real thing. Of course, I have to get up SUPER-EARLY tomorrow because I’ll be spending the whole day the NEAT Receipts booth at the Sands Expo (#74037), telling people all about NEAT Receipts. I’m sure I won’t be out TOO late… bye for now!

NEAT-MAN GOES TO VEGAS!

January 6th, 2008

scanny.jpg
Hi! I’m NEAT-Man, but my friends call me Scanny. I’m on the plane right now, flying from Philadelphia all the way to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas! I’ve never been so far from home before. Vegas, baby! And DANNY BONADUCE is even on our flight - NEAT!
danny2.jpg
I’m so excited to get there, and help my friends at NEAT Receipts spread the word about how easy it is to organize your paper and simplify your life. And if I have any free time, I may even test my luck at the casinos. My friend Giulia promised to show me how to play blackjack…I hope I don’t lose my casing! He, he… Anyway, I’ll be spending most of my time at the NEAT Receipts booth where I’ll be giving demos of all our cool scanning solutions. We’re even going to scan people’s business cards for them. It’s all just so exciting, my USB is tingling!

So if you are going to the show, please come visit me at the Sands, at Booth #74037.

I can’t wait to make some new friends!
